Trainer cards show the characters from the Pokémon games instead of the Pokémon themselves. In their full art versions they are some of the most collected cards in the hobby. In plenty of sets a trainer is the single most valuable card. Every card below made the top three of its set on Japanese market prices in October 2026, with a link to the set it comes from.
Trainers that top their set
Seven of the sets we stock are led by a trainer card. Iono takes first and second place in Clay Burst with her Special Art Rare and her Super Rare. Carmine leads Mask of Change with Kieran right behind her, while Bianca's Devotion leads Cyber Judge, the Parasol Lady leads Raging Surf and Miriam leads the Violet ex Box. In the Sword & Shield era Serena leads Incandescent Arcana and Irida leads Space Juggler, each of them with a second card in the top three as well.
Every trainer in a top three
The table lists every trainer card that made the top three of a set we stock, newest set first. The rarity tells you which version to look for, since a trainer often appears more than once in the same set.

Why trainer cards sell so well
Trainers are characters people already know from the games and the anime, so a full art card of a favourite becomes a collectable in its own right. Each one usually appears only once or twice per set at the top rarities, which keeps the supply small. In the Mega era a Trainer SR is part of the pattern collectors report finding in every standard box, as our pull rates guide explains, so a standard Mega box typically gives you at least one trainer card at SR rarity.
If you are chasing one particular trainer, buying the single is the only sure way to get it. Our price checking guide shows where to look, while the top hits guide lists the Pokémon cards that sit alongside these trainers in each set.
