About WOOPR

WOOPR is a small Australian shop for sealed Japanese Pokémon cards, run out of Sydney by a collector who buys the same product.

Who runs it

WOOPR is run by Kai Chai, a Pokémon card collector based in Sydney. The shop grew out of the same things most collections do. Kai opened Japanese sets, chased the cards in them and wanted a straightforward way to buy sealed Japanese product in Australia without waiting weeks on an overseas order.

Why Japanese

Because Japanese product is better. The print and card quality are a step above and Japanese boxes are more accessible on price than their English equivalents, which is what makes opening them fun instead of a gamble you think twice about.

Most Japanese sets are later adapted into English, often under a different name. Where a set has an English counterpart, its product page says which one, so you know exactly what you are buying.

Where the stock comes from

Everything we sell is genuine factory sealed Japanese product, bought through established supply channels and imported with duties and GST paid. The stock you see on the site is on our shelf in Sydney; the only exception is anything badged Presale, which has not landed yet and says so.

How sealed product is handled

We do not open, weigh, sort, search or reseal anything. Every box is checked for shelf wear and crush damage before it is packed, then reaches you exactly as it left the manufacturer.

Where we say a sealed box is guaranteed to contain something, it is because we checked it ourselves: before listing the 30th Celebration box we opened a full case of 20 sealed boxes and the contents list on that page comes from that case. The chase card lists on other product pages come from the published set lists. The top 3 hits on each set’s page are ranked by what those cards trade for on the Japanese market, with every card number checked on at least two sources. None of those cards is promised in any particular box.

The buying guides on this site go out under Kai’s name and follow the same rule. Every fact in them is checked on at least two public sources, which are listed at the end of each guide. Anything that comes from collectors instead of The Pokémon Company is labelled that way.

Orders are packed and dispatched Saturday to Wednesday, within 1 to 3 business days, tracked and insured with Australia Post. The details are on the shipping page. If anything arrives damaged, not sealed or not as described, the returns policy sets out how it is put right.
